It's My Life............

Hey all you friendly followers! Hope all is well in your life! Mine is filled with room dimensions, perspective views, elevations, and presentation boards. Fun, right? Not so much.  Anywhoo, this stuff is pretty much my life right now, and since im supposed to blog about my life I thought perhaps I should share some of it.

So our latest project was to design a hidden office/den space and make it 100% sustainable, draw a perspective, a rendered floor plan, create spec sheets, time sheets, sustainable documentation, no greenwashing and present it all in front of the class. NO BIGGIE!!! I have currently put in 20 hours for this project and am praying that with a full day tomorrow I can finish it!

Take a look yourself...............

I could show you a lot more pictures of the products and such cause these drawings dont really give it justice, but im too lazy. Peace out friends, until next time.

It's happened....

Hello all my darlings! I have bad news, it's happened, one of the things I hate the most struck my life today. I've ran out of creative outfits. I just spent the last hour trying to come up with some artsy fartsy interior designer worthy outfit. One outfit! I have better things to spend my precious college hours on! Do u know what the solution is to this crisis? I NEVER thought I'd go this low again, but desperation has set in. I need to do another fashion challenge. 20 for 20. Fashion abc's. I haven't decided yet! But I would really like to recruit some of my fellow readers to join! Pp? Paige s? R u guys up for it again?! :) comment below if you guys wanna join or if you have any other challenges I could try with my wardrobe! Peace and blessings! :)

First of all, I've been in college, it's the best place ever! Although if you would have asked me that the first week I would've looked at you and started sobbing. It sucked, sucked a whole lot! But with the amazing power of God and constant prayer and devotion I pulled through, definitely with trial! So I'd like to catch u up on what I do in my life now!

1. I do crafty things, like knit, alot! andddd I do weird stuff with my clothes like polka pot them to make them look more fab then they already are.

2. I live in this pretty cool apartment with this pretty cool shower curtain.

3. I wear fabulous outfits so I think that im an actual interior designer.

4. I miss my family and friends alottttttt.

5. I do piles of interior design homework

6. I do fun stuff with my new friends

And of course I miss all of you at home! I'd like to give a special shoutout to Paige who got on my butt about not blogging! This is for you girl!

I forgot to mention one thing, I just recently gained posession of this crappy device called an iPhone, in which i cannot figure out how to upload photos to my blog. This is why all of the above pictures are blurry. Blame Apple, not I.

Have a good evening folks :)

Mirror Mirror On The Wall

Hello Hello. I hope you all are spectacular today :) Mine has been full of lovin up on my cousins, just cause they're the sweetest things ever!

I also finished one of my last DIY projects, MY MIRROR! I originally found it in our basement when we were remodeling this past winter, it was old, rotten, and was covered in nasty, blue, chipped paint.  Nothing a little sanding cant fix! I forgot to take a pic of the "before"

First, I had my dad cut off the rotten piece on the bottom and then I was going to pick it up to sand it and the whole bottom fell out of the mirror. Seriously. This is when I had to do some thinking. So I packed the mirror up and brought it to my gramps.  He's pretty much amazing and managed to cut a whole new piece for me! And it's not rotten! Wahoo!

I then brought it home, sanded it, and sprayed it metallic.  The picture looks a little streaky because of the way the sun is hitting the "Shiny"ness, but I promise you it's not.

Isn't the shape of it just so fabulous?!?!?

I plan on setting it on top of my yellow chevron dresser! Do you like it?

The Blues

Hello dearest folowers! Sorry for the lack of blogging lately but I've been totally stumped on my DIY projects. Thank goodness for my sweet sweet cousins for helping me out today on the descion making process!

So I found my mothers childhood twin headboard in storage a while back and I loved the structure of it.  But of course it wasn't spunky enough for me! Nothing a little paint can't fix! :)

But that was the hard part, picking a color that matches a stripe in one of my pillows.  It felt like the longest moment in the hardware store today as I was indecisively picking the color, and seeing my cousins as well as the store owner continually stare at me, probably thinking I should hurry up. There is so many shades of blue, it's not even cool people. But I finally picked a color called Horseshoe.  At first I was so scared of the color. I painted my last ceramic owl in that color also.

During all of this my assistant for the day sanded down the headboard and made it all soft and stuff.  Then we had some cousin bonding time as we slapped a couple of coats of primer on that baby.

Ready for the final result?

I love the color now! One less DIY untill college! Here's what we got so far:

-Blue Headboard
-Yellow Bedding
-Coral Pillow
-Blue/Yellow Chevron Pillow
-Yellow Chevron Dresser
-Coral & Blue Owls
-Painted Globe

Here's whats left:
-Mirror
-Side tables

That's all folks!

Dresser DIY

Here we go folks.  The moment we've all been waiting for.  Drum roll please!!!!!

See this ugly thing? It's been cooped up in storage for aproximatley the last 10 years.  I thought it needed some refreshing before we head off to college.  Notice the power tool on top of it.  I actually used it! I'm not a power tool virgin anymore people. Are you excited to see the end result?

Wait for it........................................

We're almost there.......................

BAM! Isn't it a beauty?!?

All I need is to find some knobs for the drawers and this baby is complete! It wasn't that hard overall but it was kind of time consuming with all the taping. Tape. Paint. Dry. Paint. Dry. Paint. Dry.  Repeat.

Next DIY is in process!

Owl By Myself

Hello, ladies and gents.  I hope you had a spectacular day! I did some more DIY, can't get any better than that :)

This project could not be possible without Sandra J. Gunter. She's pretty much amazing. We share our love of decorating, and I admire all of her garage sale junk buys.  Including this one!

You're all probably thinking I've gone to far with this craze, but owls are sooooo cute! So since this one doesnt really go with my color scheme I decided to do a little revamping.  Hold on to your pants folks.......

I know! Cutest thing you've ever saw! This is going to look smashing in my apartment! HOLLA for college!

I bet you think this cute creature is saying, Im going to college owl by myself with Katie, great news for her, there's 2! I'll prob be painting him blue. Im thinking I should name them, Fiona and Fenwick.

Tell me your thoughts! :)

All I Do Is Save

Hello dearest blog pals.

Today has been quite the exciting day! College registration in the a.m!  Im all ready for classes in the fall and cant wait to experience life.  Greatest news of the day? I have an attached garage at my apartment! You see, I hate winter.  Every part of it. Snow. Bad weather. Coldness.  You can't wear white shoes. So you know what I decided to do? Move 1 hour closer to coldness.  I swear I wasn't thinking straight, but the attached garage takes some of the pain away!

Anywhoooo, back to what this post is about.  I got another deal guys. Im so amazing at this.  Brace yourself. Ready? HERE WE GOOOOOOO!!

These wedges look like a million bucks.  But let me tell you a little somethin.  $8. Can you believe it? Don't worry, I couldn't either.  I'm floatin on cloud 9 with these babys. Stare at these suckers as long as you want, no ones timing you.

P.S. I got the ugly skirt yesterday in the mail. That's all I really have to say about that..........

cheap ugliness.

I don't know if you know this, but I am a MAJOR bargain shopper. It's a disease. I admit, I buy clothes that I don't need, but if the price is right I make myself love it.  I go psycho crazy when I can get a pair of nude wedges for $8. My friends make fun of me whenever they ask me about my clothes, "I got this really cute purse the other day, only $16." or "Check out this amazing dress, $14!" Frugal=Fashion in my eyes people.  But what I did tonight tops it off.  To make a long story short, I had this visa gift card that had $14.86 to be exact. What am I gonna get that's only $14.86?! Wellllll, I never cease to amaze myself sometimes. A skirt and rings from my friend Charlotte Russe totaling in at $6.98, shipping $6.99 (STUPID). You may be thinking, "Wow, thats a great deal!" Indeed it is, although, you haven't seen the skirt yet.

Is this not the ugliest thing you have ever seen? I think so! But it was only $2.99! Thats INSANE! I made myself like it at that price. People, you need to tell me what to wear with this thing. *sigh*

Fashionably depressed,
Katie :)

Thank you for being such a devoted Fabulous Life of a Shopaholic blog follower, you are awesome. :)

So let's get back on track.  I've been working on a DIY the last two days!  I saw this project on Pinterest so I can't take full credit :) Here's how it started.

I know. You may be thinking, "Where in the world is she gonna put that globe?" It's comin to college with me folks! It'll be great decor in my bedroom don't you think?

I had to add some glam to it because nothing is ever enough for this girl. :)

This will be perfect on a stack of books on my yellow chevron dresser (that i will be starting this week!) What do you guys think? :)

Strides For Jacob

Hello all of you whoever read this blog :) I hope you all had a great Sunday! Mine was spent poolside with my father's family. It was great fun and I adore all of them!

This past year my baby cousin Jacob died of SIDS at daycare. It turned all of our lives upside down. I will remember that day forever, it was extremely tragic for our whole family. I think of Jacob daily, as he was the happiest baby I knew.

Jacob's family and friends are planning an event, Strides for Jacob, on August 4th (Jacob would be 15 months) at 9:30 am.  The event will be held at the Maccray High School and include a 5k walk, balloon release, and baseball/softball/kickball tournaments.  It would mean so much to Jacob's family if you could come join us to celebrate Jacob's joyful life. All the money raised will go towards the SIDS foundation.

I love this picture of Jacob, doesn't it look like he's waving good bye to all of us?

Go to the Strides for Jacob event page on facebook for a registration form or Wild Hare/Citizens Bank in Clara City. I hope to see you all there!

Hello all you fellow bloggers. Hope your 1st week of summer is spectacular and your soakin up all the beautiful sun! I've been chillin in my pool every. single. day.

I'm blogging right now to get away from a speech im supposed to be working on for my college online class. boo public speaking, you scare me.  Speaking of college, I'll be going there in 2.5 months! This girl is excited! I'm mostly pumped to be able to decorate my apartment. I've been "collecting" stuff for my bedroom and can't wait to make it feel like my new home. Take a look at what it's gonna look like.

1st off, here's my color scheme. If you haven't been introduced to design seeds, it's the greatest inspiration site ever.

Gordmans! Chevron is my fave pattern!

This is my bedding, it's a little more bright in person.

More Chevron!

The last 2 pictures are (some) of the DIY projects i have to do yet. 1st: 2 simple garbage cans spray painted and flipped upside down, genius! 2nd: I have a dresser similiar to this but i havent decide if i wanna do it yellow or the light blue! What do you guys think?

There's gonna be a couple other surprises on the way too! I gotta keep looking for more unique pillows!

Retail Therapy :)

Phew! Im back to blogging after a week of graduation, be prepared juniors! Writing thank yous is the worst part! The best part is that I got a KINDLE FIRE!! Love it!  Here's whats new with me :)

I recently had a birthday and it was super crappy. I think I cried more on the day I became an adult than my whole childhood. Part of this was because of my mother and sister, the dynamic duo of the household. Anywhoo, I guilted mother into feeling bad, so for my birthday present I did some damage on her credit card, thank you mother! Here's some of the quite adorable things she bought me!

Blue Hurley Bag from Gordmans ONLY $16

Yellow Shorts Gordmans
This is really a blue and white skirt not brown, from Fransescas, BEST STORE EVER

High-Low Skirt Gordmans

I plan on wearing this with the skirt above, from Fransescas

Owl You Need Is Love

I want to make one thing clear to everybody, I started the owl trend, even Ryan says so.

So if you haven't noticed I really like owls. Why? Because they're really weird and make for a good conversation piece.  :)

Let's look at my closet!

I know sometimes I go a little extreme with this craze, like I really wanted to be full of feathers at prom so I could look like an owl, but my date insisted I couldn't wear feathers. Boo you.  Also, you all should come to my grad party. Guess what the theme is? Owls. What a hoot!

20 For 20

So I've been thinking about starting a blog for awhile as a way to keep in contact with all my friends while we're in college! I thought I could show you all my outfits each day, talk about all the cool bargains I find, and just fill you in on college in general!

For my first blog post I wanted to show you something I did this fall with a friend called 20 for 20. We picked 20 things from our closet and for the next 20 days we could only use those pieces of clothing to make our outfits. It. Was. A. Challenge. Even for me, Miss Fashionista. I'm missing four pictures, but here's the ones I have.

Day 1

Day 2

Day 3

Day 4- This is Paige, my sweet friend who took on the challenge with me =)

Day 5

Day 6

Day 7

Day 8- This was one of my "out there" days, wearing a tshirt over a dress? Not gonna lie, I've done it a few times since this strange outfit. Guilty.

Day 9

Day 10- Are you sick of this skirt yet?

Day 11- What a beautiful pose.

Day 12

Day 13

Day 14- I've become obsessed with this striped tshirt since 20 for 20, I could probably wear it with everything I own.

Day 15

Day 16-Beware of the awful frumpiness in this picture. Omigosh.

All pictures (and poses!) are courtesy of my cousin, aka best guy friend, aka the guy who does everything for me, the one and only, Mr. Cole John Sabe. You're the best!

Last, but not least, I think you should try this little challenge yourself too, it definatley makes you express yourself! :)
